Press release: Propeller Club's pirates to descend upon CoRK Arts District on Nov. 7

Club's annual fundraiser benefits Safe Harbor Maritime AcademyJacksonville, FL – The Propeller Club of the United States – Port of Jacksonville will host its 5th Annual Pirate Party Fundraiser benefiting Safe Harbor Maritime Academy / Boys Home on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015. Tickets are on sale now at propclubjax.com.The Pirate Party Fundraiser is the largest annual fundraising event organized by the Propeller Club of Jacksonville. In 2014, the club raised nearly $14,000 for Safe Harbor, which was double the amount raised the previous year. Funds in 2014 were used to construct and furnish a welcome center for those in the program and their visiting families.“We were thrilled to make a significant impact last year,” said Virginia Bailey, 2015-2016 club president, "and we're looking to grow that even more this year."Funds raised in 2015 will pay for infrastructure upgrades that will allow the charity to accommodate up to 22 boys in the program, which is twice the number of enrollments today."We are changing lives here on the riverfront, and we're excited about the opportunity to support twice as many youth," said Dustin Johnson, director of Safe Harbor Maritime Academy. "We're extraordinarily grateful for the support and generosity of the Propeller Club membership."The Pirate Party Fundraiser will be held for the second consecutive year at CoRK Arts District in Riverside.On Saturday, Nov. 7, doors will open at 7 p.m. The event will offer:

  • Entertainment by Jacksonville-based band Mr. Natural
  • Raffles for valuable giveaways donated by local businesses
  • A silent auction
  • A pirate king's feast
  • 50/50 raffle
  • Door prizes
  • Costume contest
  • Tarot card reader
  • Proceeds go to Safe Harbor Maritime Academy
