U.S. Merchant Marine photo contest winners announced

Along the banks of the St. Johns River, close to where American cargo vessels sail and dock each week, Propeller Club of Jacksonville President Jeff Price announced the winners of the inaugural American Merchant Marine Instagram 2018 photo contest.Winners included:

Northeast Florida transportation organizations unite to present business summit April 17

The Transportation and Logistics Network (TALON) hosted a sold out business summit, “Progress 2018: Preparing for the Change to Come”, on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the University of North Florida’s Adam W. Herbert University Center. The event was held to educate transportation professionals about the digital trends affecting supply chains. [gallery link="file" ids="6988,6989,6987"]The summit featured keynote speaker Brian Wynne, President and CEO of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). Propeller Club President Jeff Price served as master of ceremonies. The event was sponsored by Beaver Street Fisheries, Inc. Sea Best Corp., First Coast Industrial, The Grimes Companies, DAMCO, EnSafe, Main Ocean Port Services, and the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (TPO). In addition, panel discussions on transportation technology and industry projects, as well as networking opportunities, connected maritime, transportation and logistics professionals with information relevant to the industry.The program concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the presidents of the six host organizations, as they pledged to:

  • inform maritime, transportation, logistics and transit professionals about industry developments;
  • educate the public about the importance of the industry to the regional economy; and
  • promote the Northeast Florida region as a hub for multi-modal transportation and logistics activity.

UNF Transportation & Logistics Career Day to be held March 2

Recruiters from regional, national and international transportation and logistics companies are invited to participate in the University of North Florida's (UNF's) Transportation and Logistics Career Day on March 2. T&L Career Day offers recruiters and students more than 150 one-on-one prescheduled interviews for internship, part-time and full-time positions along with the opportunity to meet and greet at the T&L Employer Expo after lunch. This event is open to T&L and Operations Management students or recent T&L graduates who are STAR Certified with a minimum GPA of 2.5.Transportation and Logistics Career Day is a free event, but space is limited. Natural Gas for High Horsepower Summit to address LNG in Jacksonville

Jacksonville has emerged as the epicenter of natural gas projects, and the High Horsepower (HHP) Summit - to be held in Jacksonville Nov. 6 - 9, 2017 - will bring together industry leaders from the marine, mining, rail, E&P and power gen sectors to discuss these energy projects and more.Early registration is now open - click here to save $400 by registering before Aug. 4, 2017. The agenda will be packed with end-user case studies, off-site tours, networking, and discussion including:

  • TOTE Continues to Operate the World’s First LNG-Powered Container Ships: Two LNG-powered ships are in weekly service between Jacksonville and Puerto Rico.
  • Pivotal LNG’s Innovative ISO Bunkering System for TOTE: Simplicity and sophistication on display here with this on-dock LNG bunkering strategy.
  • JAX LNG Is Constructing North America’s First Small-Scale Coastal LNG Facility: This JV project between Pivotal LNG and NorthStar Midstream is expected in-service Q4 2017.
  • TOTE Will Deploy North America’s First LNG Bunker Barge: The completed barge will be ready in 2017 and will be on display at the event.
  • Crowley Is Deploying Its First LNG Vessels: The ConRo ships, scheduled for deployment in 2017, will also operate in a weekly service to Puerto Rico.
  • Crowley On-Dock LNG Storage and Bunkering: Crowley’s ConRo ships will be fueled directly from an on-dock fuel storage an bunkering station.
  • Eagle LNG Is Building Two LNG Production Plants: Opening in 2017 and 2019, these plants will serve local HHP markets and the export market respectively.
  • Florida East Coast Railroad Is Converting to LNG: With DOT FRA approvals in place, LNG locomotive and tender car deployments are underway.
  • UPS LNG Fleet and Refueling Station: Part of a national natural gas fleet, UPS one of the largest LNG fleets and fueling stations in the world in Jacksonville.
