Capt Mathew Woods, USCG Captain (Ret.)We’re sad to report on the passing of Mathew Woods, Captain U.S. Coast Guard (Ret.), who served twice as Captain of the Port, U.S. Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville.You're invited to attend the service at Fort Caroline Christian Church (7535 Fort Caroline Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32277), on Friday, June 9. A public viewing will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., followed by a memorial with full military honors from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Storm Update (2) - Oct. 4, 2016

Based on the current predicted track of Hurricane Matthew, effective 6:00 p.m. on Oct. 4, 2016, the Captain of the Port (COTP) Jacksonville will set Hurricane Condition YANKEE (sustained gale force winds due to Tropical Cyclone activity are predicted within 24 hours) in the Ports of Canaveral, Jacksonville, and Fernandina.Click here to read Marine Safety Information Bulletin (MSIB) 073-16 for more info.

Storm Update - Sept. 2, 2016

The USCG Captain of the Port has set modified Hurricane Condition Four in the Ports of Jacksonville and Fernandina, effective 11 a.m. today.Given the current forecast, a modified Hurricane Condition FOUR is set in the ports of Jacksonville and Fernandina at 11:00 a.m. today. All marine interests may resume normal operations with the exception of marine traffic over 500 gross tons. All vessels over 500 gross tons shall not transit until a full evaluation of the channel has been completed and the Captain of the Port has deemed it safe to transit.
